In memory of Norfolk Lion Jim Tomaszewski

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Norfolk Lion Jim Tomaszewski, a dedicated Lion and board member for many years. Jim was generous, kindhearted, and deeply committed to the values of Lionism. His steady leadership, willingness to serve, and genuine care for others strengthened our club and will be remembered with gratitude.

James M. Tomaszewski, 77, of Norfolk, MA, passed away on December 29, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Maria V. Tomaszewski.


Born in Detroit, MI, on October 25, 1948, James was the son of the late Henry and Helen (Hastings) Tomaszewski. He was educated at St. Peter’s Elementary School and Notre Dame High School in Harper Woods, Michigan and went on to graduate with a Masters in Business Administration from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.


Following graduation, James enjoyed a successful career as a financial executive, working for several companies including Lechmere, Filene’s Basement, Filene’s, and Linens ‘n Things in New Jersey. After retiring early, James dedicated much of his time to giving back to his community. He served as a board member of the Hockomock YMCA, was an active member of the Norfolk Lions Club, volunteered on St. Jude’s Finance Council and served his town as a member of the Norfolk Advisory Board and Norfolk Board of Selectman.


In addition to his wife Maria, James is survived by his loving sons, James A. Tomaszewski and his wife Maura of Norfolk, MA, and David H. Tomaszewski and his wife Toni of Rochester, MA. He was the cherished grandfather to Abigail, Rachael, Emma, Mary, Claire, Olivia and Natalie. James is also survived by his siblings, Matthew (Kelly) Tomaszewski of Saline, MI, JoAnn (John) Immen of Clinton Township, MI and William Tomaszewski of Detroit, MI; as well as his nieces and nephews, Lisa (Kevin) Hinderleider, Christopher (Renee) Fenech, Jenna (Alex) Jerden, Evan Tomaszewski, David Rejniak, and John Rejniak.


Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours, January 2, 2026, from 4 PM - 7 PM in the R.J. Ross Funeral Home, 135 South Street, Wrentham, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on January 3, 2026, at 11AM at St. Jude’s Church, 86 Main Street, Norfolk, MA. Burial will follow at Norfolk Cemetery Main Street Norfolk, MA.
